Alas, I was only 16 that summer of '80, and had a difficult enough time just getting into Mrs. Jays, let alone the Fast Lane or Pony (though there was never a problem getting served further inland at the 5th Avenue Tavern). Spent the majority of that summer a few blocks further north at the Loch Arbour Village Beach Club, playing volleyball and checking out the bikini-clad lovelies, and attending the occasional gig at the Convention Hall or Paramount Theatre. It wasn't 'til a couple summers later that I really started to hit the clubs on the Shore...only to relocate to La La Land for college that fall.... Ah, the Asbury boardwalk!
